In the 1983 World Cup final between West Indies and India, West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl first.
So The Kapil Dev-led team could only score 183 runs thanks to Andy Roberts’ three wickets, along with two each from Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, and Larry Gomes.
India performed a fantastic job of limiting the run flow of the Windies while defending 183, reducing the team to 57/3.
The Caribbean team was quickly reduced to 76/6, and India quickly emerged as the match’s overwhelming favorite. Mohinder Amarnath thus claimed Michael Holding’s final wicket, giving India their first-ever World Cup triumph.
