Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya received praise from former South African captain Graeme Smith for their efforts during the Proteas’ five-match T20I series.
The five-match T20I series between South Africa and India ended in a tie after the pivotal game in Bengaluru was postponed due to rain. India scored 28/2 in the allocated 3.3 overs when Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad returned to the tent. So, A day after the series ended, former South Africa captain Graeme Smith extolled Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya, underlining the best qualities of Team India.
According to Graeme Smith, Hardik is the “X-factor” all-rounder India needs to balance the team. For the series, Hardik Pandya scored 117 runs. While handling the ball, he was unable to secure a single wicket.
On the other side, the 37-year-old Dinesh Karthik scored 92 runs in total, of which 55 came in the fourth T20I in Rajkot.
“Given the amount of cricket remaining to be played, it is difficult to predict what will transpire over the next months, but Hardik Pandya and DK appear to be crucial players for that squad.
