Pandya, was supportive of Rishabh Pant

In the Indian dugout before the Asia Cup match versus Sri Lanka. Rishabh Pant’s elevation to the starting lineup over Hardik Pandya caused confusion.

In a surprise move, Rishabh Pant was sent to bat before Hardik Pandya during India’s Asia Cup match against Sri Lanka.

After losing to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage. India is in danger of losing the Asia Cup. Following their six-wicket victory against India on Tuesday in Dubai. Sri Lanka was all but guaranteed a spot in the championship game. The highlight effort from India’s batting order against the Sri Lankan spinners was Rohit Sharma’s 41-ball 72. Suryakumar Yadav was the only player except Rohit to contribute significantly, scoring 34 runs out of a possible 29. Rishabh Pant was sent out before Hardik Pandya, who typically bats above the all-rounder, due to a slight batting order change made by the team management.

Pant was prepared to take the field as soon as India’s third wicket fell. Hardik Pandya, though, had to leave before Pant because he was told to do so.

When Hardik Pandya clarified if he merely needed to go outside, there appeared to be some misunderstanding. Hardik Pandya put on his helmet as Pant sat down.

Due to the fact that both batsmen finished with identical totals of 17 off 13 balls each, the switch-up may or may not have benefited India.

India made 173/8 in their 20 overs after Sri Lanka allowed them to bat.

Sri Lanka got off to a terrific start in their mission for achievement. India’s openers set up a 97-run partnership, all but eliminating the team.

Pathum Nissanka scored 52 runs off of 37 balls, and Kusal Mendis hit 57 runs off of 37 pitches.

Nissanka’s dismissal caused a momentary collapse for Sri Lanka, who lost four wickets in the space of 13 runs. However, skipper Dasun Shanaka and the seasoned Bhanuka Rajapaksa led them to victory with one delivery remaining and without capturing any other wickets.

Together, Shanaka and Rajapaksa scored 64 runs for the fifth wicket, scoring 25 off of 17 and 33 off of 18.
