David Warner Swapping Strike Last Minute fails Terribly

Warner, David DC vs. PBKS, IPL 2022: Dismissed The Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, enjoyed a near-perfect game. The 2020 runners-up struggled from the start, with David Warner being dismissed for a duck when his decision to swap strikes with Sarfaraz Khan backfired.

After swapping strikes, David Warner was dismissed on the first ball.

On Monday, Mitchell Marsh hit a tough half-century. With a 17-run victory over Punjab Kings, Shardul Thakur’s four-wicket haul helped Delhi Capitals keep their playoff hopes alive. Marsh, who began the season with a hip injury and then tested positive for coronavirus, hit his second consecutive fifty of the season to lead his team to a 159-7 win over Punjab. Shardul Thakur took 4/36 in four overs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai to restrict the opposition to 142-9.

While Delhi’s IPL performance was near-perfect, the 2020 runners-up struggled early on, with David Warner dismissed for a duck against Liam Livingstone. On the first ball of the IPL, the Australian opener gave a simple catch to a backward point for the first time in nine years.

Warner was not going to take a strike before Livingstone took the first pitch of the game. At the last minute, the Capitals opener decided to take the strike from his partner, Sarfaraz Khan, who supposed to open the innings.

Livingstone’s haphazard delivery, on the other hand, cut straight to Rahul Chahar by Warner. Without troubling the umpires, he returned to the dugout.

Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav each took two wickets to crush the opposition. Axar rejected Mayank Agarwal for zero points, while Kuldeep dismissed Livingstone for three. Jitesh Sharma gave Delhi a scare with his 34-ball 44 till Shardul removed him in the 18th over. With a low grab at long-off, Warner nearly clinched his team’s triumph.

Delhi is now in contention for a top-four playoff spot, but Punjab’s hopes destroyed. DC has passed Royal Challengers Bangalore for fourth place in terms of run rate. Delhi and Bangalore must win their final games to be in contention for a playoff berth.
