David Miller’s innings help GT reach the IPL Final in 2022

After the IPL 2022 Qualifier 1, Hardik Pandya, the GT captain, lauded David Miller and revealed a conversation he had with him when batting in the middle against Rajasthan Royals.

David Miller saves the day by scoring 16 runs in the final over.

When the Gujarat Titans required 16 runs, David Miller hit a hat-trick of sixes in the first three deliveries of the penultimate over to take them to the IPL 2022 final. In Qualifier 1, GT defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Miller hit Prasidh Krishna for three sixes in a row. After the game, Hardik Pandya, the GT captain, congratulated Miller and revealed a conversation he had with him while batting in the middle.

“It all comes down to how important this game is to us. That was the topic of our discussion with Miller. I am most proud of David, even though Rashid has been terrific throughout.” Let’s treat this game with respect “I insisted. We made a mistake against the Mumbai Indians, and despite losing, we wanted to show respect for the game. But he insisted that we both finish.” Pandya stated this at the post-match presentation ceremony on Tuesday.

Miller was chosen player of the match for his unbeaten 68 off 38 balls. At one point, he was on 10 off 14 balls, but his final partner, Hardik Pandya, was going all out. As Pandya slowed at the end, it was Miller who took control.

GT had been struck a twin punch in the middle with Shubman Gill and Matthew Wade, so the fourth-wicket stand between Miller and Pandya was a game-changer. To help their team win, Pandya and Miller combined for an unblemished 106-run outing.

“Many people dismissed David Miller, but we viewed him as a match-winner from the first time we saw him at auction. We had anticipated him acting the way he did today. But we needed to stress his value, show him our care, and make it clear what we expect of him. It’s okay if he fails; this is just a game.” Pandya stated during the post-match press conference.
