In India vs. South Africa, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is on the verge of breaking a new T20I record.
IND vs SA: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who starred with the ball for India in the second T20I against South Africa, is on the verge of breaking the T20I record.
In the first two games of their five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series at home, South Africa has dominated India. Despite the setbacks, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been a remarkable performer. The Indian fast bowler appears to have regained his mojo after injuries threatened to end his career. In the second T20I in Cuttack, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was particularly outstanding, taking four wickets for 13 runs in four overs to keep India in contention.
At the Barabati Stadium, three of Bhuvneshwar’s four wickets came in the powerplay overs. He is tied with Samuel Badree of the West Indies and Tim Southee of New Zealand for the most wickets taken in T20I powerplay overs.
So far, the Indian pacer has 33 wickets in the powerplay with an outstanding economy rate of 5.66 in 59 games.
As a result, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will get the chance to take the lead in the third T20I against India on Tuesday. And in Visakhapatnam, at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
In Vizag, India is in a must-win position, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will try to recreate his heroics from the last match. Other bowlers, on the other hand, would have to support Bhuvneshwar, which India paid a high price for in Cuttack.
India has a couple of bench options, and it’ll be interesting to watch whether they get a chance. Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik have yet to make an appearance in India, but one or both of them could do so in Visakhapatnam.
Axar Patel has struggled with both the bat and the ball, and he may have to sit out the game. Avesh Khan has not grabbed a single wicket in the first two T20Is despite being economical.
