Dinesh Karthik has been recalled to the Indian team for the T20I series against South Africa.
After a stellar performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Dinesh Karthik has returned to the Indian cricket team. For Royal Challengers Bangalore, the 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batter aced the finisher’s job, scoring 330 runs at a strike rate of 183.33 in 16 games. As a result of that performance, the veteran has been re-instated into the team. He most recently played for India in the ICC World Cup 2019. The T20I series against South Africa will be a significant opportunity for Karthik as Team India tries to get its act together ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia in October 2022.
The Indian cricket team’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, has stated that Karthik’s bat performance will be closely evaluated.
“With Dinesh, it’s fairly evident and extremely plain. As a result of his ability in a specific phase of the game, he has made a comeback. “In the back-end phase of the game, Dinesh has been able to make a point of difference for whichever squad he has played for the last two or three years,” Dravid added.
“In my opinion, that is no different” (in Team India). It was for this reason why he was picked. He’ll bat in that position for India, and it’ll be intriguing to see if he can repeat his performance.”
Dravid went on to suggest that expecting older players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to be ready for every game is ridiculous.
“We want to make sure they’re ready for big games and tournaments, so we’ll have to manage them ahead of time to make sure they’re at their best.” We acknowledge that some of our key players will need to be rested at times, but we will almost certainly be able to deploy our best team all of the time. However, I believe that having the opportunity to play is equally exciting for other children. It contributes to the depth of our side’s development. “There are certain advantages to being in this situation,” he continued.
