So, after the Indian women’s cricket team captured a silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised them on Monday. PM Modi claimed on Twitter that because cricket and India are intertwined, this victory would always be special. India had lost to Australia by a score of nine runs in the Sunday gold medal match at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Meg Lanning, the captain of Australia, chose to bat first and made 161/8 off of Mooney’s 61-run knock. For India, Sneh Rana and Renuka Singh both returned with two wickets.
India was in the lead in the search for 162 due to Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur, who were both playing well. After going from 118/2 to 152 all out, the team ultimately lost, and Australia prevailed.
Harmanpreet Singh, the captain of the Indian team, scored the most runs with 65.
After defeating England earlier in the day, New Zealand won the bronze medal in women’s cricket on Sunday.
