MS Dhoni announced on Friday that he will play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023 because he wants to say goodbye to his supporters in Chennai and thank them for their support by traveling to different places for away matches.

Dhoni underlined his availability for next year during the toss for his team’s final IPL 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals at the Brabourne Stadium on Friday.
MS Dhoni, who has led Chennai Super Kings to four IPL victories since their inception in 2008, relinquished captaincy two days before the start of IPL 2022, but was forced to take over from Ravindra Jadeja midway through the current edition due to the club’s struggles.

When asked if he plans to return to the IPL next season, the former India captain. Who has led his country to world cup titles, stated he will for one simple reason: he wants to play in front of the Chennai fans once more.
“It’s for one simple reason: it would be unjust not to play in Chennai as a thank-you.” As a team and as an individual, I have received a great deal of affection and devotion in Mumbai. It would, however, be cruel to CSK fans.

“Hopefully, the teams will be able to go next year so that we can thank all of the different areas. Where we will be playing games at different stadiums,” Dhoni added.
He went on to remark that 2023 might not be the end of his IPL career.
“We can’t really anticipate something two years down the road, so whether this will be my final year or not is a major question,” Dhoni continued. “However, I’ll make every effort to return strong next year.”
It’s uncertain whether he’ll continue as CSK captain next year or step down, as he did this season. If CSK could find someone capable of guiding the team, this would be evident.
